October 4th, a Grannis Police Officer made a traffic stop and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen and requested assistance from the Sevier County Sheriff's Office. When Sergeant Greg Davignon arrived, Grannis Police Chief Price informed him that the black Nissan that 18-year-old Christopher Ortega was driving had been reported stolen from Grannis on September 25th. Davignon took Ortega into custody and while being interviewed at the Sevier County jail, Ortega allegedly admitted to taking the car without permission. Ortega has been charged with theft by receiving.
